Florals and the Hamptons are synonymous. You can immediately picture tulips, daffodils, ranunculus, and, of course, the flower of the East Coast: the hydrangea. While there are many floral events taking place in the Hamptons, there is only one held at the renowned Wölffer Estate that sells out immediately: Share the Harvest Farm’s Floral Arranging Class.
Share The Harvest Farm is a local non-profit that believes everyone deserves access to wholesome, locally grown food. Their farm, located at 55 Long Lane in East Hampton, provides fresh vegetables to local food pantries, women’s shelters, low-income senior housing facilities, childcare centers, and more.

Guests were greeted with a glass of wine and treated to a decadent charcuterie spread, stunning flower bars, and a beautiful view of the vineyard.
The morning kicked off with remarks by Share the Harvest’s Executive Director, Meredith Arm, “I’m so grateful to Wölffer Estate for hosting us in this beautiful space, and to May Zegarelli of Ocean Fog Farm for sharing her talent and creativity with our guests. This event is especially meaningful to us, as it was the first event May and I ever did together, and four years later, it continues to bring people together in such a joyful way. We’re grateful to everyone for being here today, as proceeds from ticket sales support Share the Harvest Farm and our mission to fight food insecurity on the East End.”

May shared tips for creating a beautiful and long-lasting arrangement:
1. Cut the stems at an angle, never straight.
2. Don’t cut daffodils; they secrete a unique toxin, and if you cut them, it can make your water toxic and reduce the arrangement’s lifespan.
3. Start by crisscrossing the greenery; this will serve as the base of the arrangement.
4. Have fun and don’t be afraid to be creative.

Guests visited the flower bars and had fun creating beautiful arrangements, which were housed in purple glass vessels. You couldn’t help but compliment your neighbor’s arrangement while sipping wine, having a great time, and supporting Share The Harvest Farm.

Aside from taking home a beautiful arrangement, guests received a custom Share the Harvest Tote bag designed by Julia Kearns.

Don’t worry if you missed this event; there are more to come! The farm hosts fun events that educate, build community, and help the farm continue its noble mission.
