Kat Jamieson is an author and tastemaker who has been sharing her passion for lifestyle topics such as fashion, décor, travel, and cooking since 2011 on her blog: With Love From Kat.
Her first book, Blended, was recently released in October. In this book, Kat shares a seasonally inspired and holistic approach to cooking, as well as her take on entertaining and living well. She shares more than 125 recipes that have helped her to feel energized, vibrant, and balanced. Aside from these nourishing recipes, Kat also discusses how she has obtained a truly balanced and beautiful way of living inside and out, sharing beauty secrets, grounding tips, favorite clean products, inspiring seasonal settings, and so much more!
Kat spoke more about the inspiration behind Blended, how she has found success over the years, and what she hopes readers will take away.
Congratulations on your new book Blended! Can you tell us about it and what inspired you to write this book?
KJ: Thank you! After struggling with digestion issues and brain fog in my 20s, I became passionate about wellness and started to pay attention to the quality of food I was consuming. I moved to Venice, CA from NYC for 2 years and was able to heal my digestion and brain fog through healthy, nourishing, and delicious meals. As I began sharing my journey with my followers, I noticed a huge interest in all things wellness, so I decided to create a beautiful coffee table book with all of my wellness tips, beauty secrets, and over 125 recipes (most of which are gluten, dairy, and sugar free, and were developed by an incredible chef) that help me look and feel my best from the inside out!
Can you talk about your lifestyle blog? Why did you decide to start it and how has it developed over the years?
KJ: I started my blog as a creative outlet in 2011. I had just graduated from college with a degree in Interior Design, but realized I didn’t want to become a designer, so I moved to NYC and landed a job working in fashion PR. I loved staying up late after work to write my blog and would write any chance I could get! Today, I share inspiring posts about fashion, design, travel, and wellness on my blog and Instagram.
Would you tell us a bit about your background with fashion, décor, travel, and entertaining?
KJ: I love that I’m able to share my passion for fashion, decor, travel, entertaining, and wellness with my readers every single day. Whether it be through my blog, an Instagram story, my book, or my Travel App! I’ve always enjoyed sharing unique and interesting things I find with others.
How would you describe your style?
KJ: Classic and feminine with a mix of east and west coast elements. I grew up in Scottsdale, AZ, lived in LA, lived in NYC, grew up going to Nantucket, and now reside in Fairfield County, CT with my husband and dog. I’ve always found a lot of inspiration through both coasts and am constantly traveling!
Do you find inspiration from traveling to the Hamptons?
KJ: The Hamptons are so beautiful, and I always leave feeling inspired. Whether it’s from a peaceful walk on the beach in Montauk, the Amagansett farm stand, a fabulous store like Bloom in Sag Harbor, or a delicious meal at Crow’s Nest—there’s always something special to do or see.
What’s your favorite pastime in the Hamptons?
KJ: I love the simplicity of grabbing a sandwich and cookies from Round Swamp Farm and heading to Ditch Plains for a picnic on the beach. And of course, I can’t resist strolling around East Hampton and popping into the chic Aerin store.
It seems that you find inspiration from the holidays. Is that correct? And what are you looking forward to this holiday season?
KJ: Holidays are the best excuse to get dressed up, decorate your home with festive items, and make seasonally inspired meals! I love arranging pomegranates in big wooden bowls on my kitchen counter in December, putting mulling spices on the stove so the entire house smells like cinnamon, and hanging magnolia leaf garland around the front door.
Do you have any fun holiday traditions? What would you say is your favorite holiday?
KJ: My sister and I have a gingerbread house competition with our significant others. We also make a million different types of desserts to enjoy throughout the week. Christmas is by far my favorite holiday!
How do you define success?
KJ: Oh wow, this is a great question. Success looks different for so many of us, and my definition of success has varied greatly over the years. Success, for me, is when I’m living with intention and making a positive impact in the world in some way, shape, or form. It’s when I feel aligned mentally, spiritually, and physically. It’s when my relationships are healthy and balanced. It’s when I’m being fully present and appreciating both the big and little things in my life. That is my definition of success!
Do you have any advice for aspiring authors, bloggers, or creatives?
KJ: Be intentional with everything you put out there. People gravitate toward authenticity. When you show vulnerability, are genuine, and put thought and care into your work, you will attract others!
Is there anything else you’d like readers to know about yourself, your book, or otherwise?
KJ: I hope that my book inspires others to elevate holidays, events, and everyday moments with delicious flavors and unique elements—and feel more energized, balanced, and vibrant with the 125+ nourishing recipes!
