“The Shelter Island Run personifies good citizenship, kindness towards others in need and true unity so come and participate on Saturday, June 20th and ‘Be an Everyday Hero,'” said Mary Ellen Adipietro, Race Director.
This year’s annual Shelter Island 10k Run will be held on Saturday, June 20th at 5:30 p.m. Meb Keflezighi, Olympic silver medalist and 2014 Boston marathon winner, will return to the race for his second year in a row. This historic run has been featured in Runner’s World Magazine, as one of the country’s most beautiful road races, as the race overlooks Dering Harbor, Gardener’s Bay, and Coecles Harbor.
The 2015 race will feature shirts designed by Jonathan Adler, as well as a “Race weekend at Sunset Beach Hotel” raffle. The grand prize includes a 2 night stay (on Friday, June 19th and Saturday, June 20th) at Sunset Beach Hotel, a $200 Sunset Beach Restaurant credit, and 2 Shelter Island 10K race entries. Raffle tickets are $100.
Registration is $40 and proceeds benefit the Shelter Island 10k Community Fund, as well as other charities like East End Hospice and Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch.
The Shelter Island 10k Run is limited to about 2,500 runners, so early registration is suggested. Registration is open now at the Shelter Island Run website.
