The Southampton Arts Center (SAC) is proud to partner once again this summer with the David Lynch Foundation for Energy, Focus, Peace: The Power of Meditation – A Conversation with Executive Director Bob Roth on Thursday, August 4th at 6:30 p.m.
Kick-off August with an introduction to the science-based Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique lead Bob Roth, a 40-year TM teacher and Executive Director of the David Lynch Foundation. Attendees will learn how to relax deeply, reduce stress and anxiety, focus your mind, sleep better at night and enjoy more during the day.
“Summer is a perfect time to learn to meditate,” explained Roth. “You have the time to master the practice and make it a part of your daily routine. Then when you return home you’ll have a simple, effective tool to help you overcome stress and create more energy and focus at a time when you need it the most.”
Roth is one of the most experienced meditation teachers in America. His students include Jerry Seinfeld, Martin Scorsese, Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, David Letterman, Elon Musk, and Larry Page. Over the past 40 years, he has taught Transcendental Meditation to thousands of people and also penned Transcendental Meditation, which has been translated into 20 languages.
“TM is the only time that I have stillness…it gives me this peaceful feeling, and I love it so much. I can’t say enough good things about it,” explained Ellen DeGeneres. “All the benefits that you can achieve from sitting still and going within – it really is a beautiful experience. David Lynch is such a wonderful man to start this foundation to help people.”
Roth currently serves as the Executive Director of the David Lynch Foundation charity, which has brought meditation to over 500,000 inner-city youth in underserved schools in 35 countries, to veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress and their families, and women and children who are survivors of domestic violence. He also heads up the Center for Leadership Performance, another nonprofit, which brings TM to companies, organizations and government agencies.
The David Lynch Foundation addresses the epidemic of trauma and toxic stress among at-risk populations through promoting widespread implementation of the evidence-based Transcendental Meditation program in order to improve their health, cognitive capabilities and performance in life.
