Hamptons Handpoured’s Food Is Love Candle Raising Funds For Local Food Pantries

Hamptons Handpoured’s latest signature scent supports a very special local cause. The Food is Love candle was created to champion East End Cares (EEC) and the Clamshell Foundation’s Fund for Food.

“One of our East End Cares volunteers, Chris Ritchey, came up with the idea and reached out to Brittany [Torres] for us. So often it’s our volunteers who have an idea — and then together we make it happen,” Melissa Berman, East End Cares Co-Founder, shared.

“I respect him immensely and anything he puts his efforts towards I am on board,” Hamptons Handpoured owner Brittany Torres said about Ritchey. “I am so grateful for necessities we can all easily take for granted – like access to nutritious food.”

EEC and the Clamshell Foundation established the Fund For Food campaign in May to provide financial assistance to local food pantries that have faced an unprecedented demand this year.

“We are so thankful to Hamptons Handpoured for creating such a beautiful scented candle that will help East End Cares and the Clamshell Foundation continue to raise funds for our local food pantries,” Kori Peters, President of The Clamshell Foundation, added. “Melissa Berman did such a beautiful job designing the label and has pulled together a wonderful team of volunteers to get the candles in local stores from Southampton to Montauk. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this endeavor possible.”

Food is Love, which features notes of citrus, arugula, and verbena, is available at Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton, Urban Zen in Sag Harbor, Set Point Tennis, Shan and The Maidstone in East Hampton, Organic Krush in Amagansett, Fort Pond Native Plants and Nibi MTK in Montauk.

“Katherine King stepped in to head up the effort and took the lead on getting all our retail partners lined up. (Thank you local shops!) It’s really beautiful – we truly are a community collaborative,” Berman noted. “Brittany put so much care in developing a fresh, farmers market-focused scent that is perfect year-round. It is lovely working with her.”

100 percent of the proceeds from the Food is Love candle supports the Fund for Food.

“No person should go hungry, especially in a community that is so blessed and willing to help others,” Torres concluded.
