On Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd, Urban Zen Sag Harbor, a philosophy of living by Donna Karan, is hosting two unique pop-ups.
Coast by Coast’s (www.coastbycoast.com) customized 1972 Volkswagen bus is stopping by Urban Zen to showcase a collection inspired by the nomadic nature of travel. Founders Jordana Longo and Kristen Cleary carefully curated the line, which features designer swim and lifestyle brands, through a surf and swim lens. Each item mixes style and function, to offer both beachgoers and city dwellers a chic look that embraces life by the water. Featured brands include Kore Swim, Mara Hoffman, Pret-a-Surf and Tori Praver.
Aayenda (aayendajewelry.com), Afghanistan’s first jewelry brand that is working to rejuvenate their economy by training and then giving work to locals, who create the collection, will also be at Urban Zen. Founder Sophia Swire will be available to help shoppers pick out the perfect pieces. Owned by the nonprofit organization Future Brilliance US, Aayenda (which translates to ‘future’ in Dari, the local language) is dedicated to fostering economic stability and empowerment through work opportunity for hundreds of Afghan artisans. Since its start, Future Brilliance has trained over 1200 local artisans, who have hand-carved fine lapis and turquoise beads in the rural villages of northern Afghanistan.
