Plan on giving your abode a spring/summer refresh? Before you go on a shopping spree or pick up a paintbrush, stop by the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) Thrift and Treasure Shop on Saturday, May 26, which will be transformed into a spectacular designer show house courtesy of some of New York’s most notable interior decorators.
“Now in its eight year, the ARF Designer Show House is a great kick-off to the summer season!” shared Lisa McCarthy, ARF Board President. “We salute the designers who have brought such creativity to their assignment, and look forward to seeing everyone.”
Each of the Shop’s eight rooms and the outdoor space has been designated a designer that has created their own themed room with pieces from ARF’s Thrift Shop and that they donated from their own collections – with additional support from Gibson & Dehn Candlemakers. Featured masterminds include Brady Design, Blue Carreon, Jack Deamer of JED Design, Richard Mishaan, Barbara Ostrom, Melanie Roy Design, Tom Samet and Nathan Wold of Hamptons House Design LLC, Kim Seybert, and Thayer’s Hardware & Patio – all of which are animal lovers, while themes include “Doggie Den,” “The Treillage Foyer,” “Mixology,” “Seaside Study,” “A Beach Glam Retreat,” “Out of Africa,” and “Toile Hall.” Every item you see throughout the Show House will be for sale.
The opening night festivities – which is Co-Chaired by Gordon H. Hoppe, Alex Papachristidis and Marshall Watson – brings out more than 200 attendees each year. Partygoers will have the chance to peruse and purchase featured items, sip on wine donated by Kontokosta Winery, nosh on hors d’oeuvres by the Seafood Shop, and mingle with ARFans who are awaiting their forever home. Both adoptable cats and dogs will be onsite.
“At Gibson & Dehn we are passionate about supporting causes that are important to our partners, employees and our communities,” Founder and CEO, Michael Dehn Breault reflected. “ARF is an expert at crafting the link between design and animal rescue which are two areas that we care for deeply. We continuously donate products for the annual Show House fundraising and in addition we encourage consumers who shop online to use a discount code in which proceeds are donated to ARF.”
Funding from sales at the ARF Thrift & Treasure Shop account for nearly 10 percent of ARF’s annual operating budget, making this event incredibly important to the organization – who has saved over 25,000 cats and dogs since it was founded in 1974.
“Please bring your friends; it is a fun way to support the animals,” McCarthy added.
The ARF Designer Show House Cocktail Reception will commence with an exclusive Preview Hour at 5 p.m., followed by general admission entry at 6 p.m. The Designer Show House will also be open on Sunday, May 27 and Monday, May 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets to the Cocktail Reception range from $150 to $250.
