New York Knicks star J.R. Smith and retired legends John Wallace, Larry Johnson, and John Starks were some of the 56 golfers who came out to support the Ross School of East Hampton on June 10, 2013, at the fifth annual Golf with the Knicks outing at the Bridge Golf Course in Bridgehampton.
The event raised nearly $44,000 for Ross School programs and scholarships, including the Steven J. Ross Scholarship Fund. The Ross School was founded in 1991 with the mission of fostering interdisciplinary, integrated thinking and innovative leadership. This scholarship was established at the school’s inception to ensure that children from all economic backgrounds can receive a world-class education from the Ross School.
The event began with a continental breakfast, which was followed by 18 rounds of golf. Guests were given the option of paying an additional fee to play alongside one of the Knicks legends. After the golf tournament, guests attended a cocktail reception and an awards ceremony, during which time all of the participants had the opportunity to meet and interact with the iconic representatives of the Knicks franchise.
The day concluded with a live auction where attendees could bid on signed Knicks memorabilia, including jerseys and basketballs, as well as custom jewelry and fine art.
