Offshore Art and Film Festival in Montauk

Offshore Art and Film Festival is excited to announce the full program for its 1st Annual edition, celebrating a new era of art & film in Montauk, NY.

Through both art and cinema, Offshore Art & Film will represent an important voice for independent filmmakers and local artists. The festival will take place July 13th – July 17th, at select locations around the town of Montauk.

The Offshore Art and Film Festival is an ‘Art By Day’ and ‘Film By Night’ event, showcasing art installations during the daylight hours, and screening independent films at sundown, with notable speakers, industry mixers and a series of filmmaker Q&As.

Featured filmmakers, talent, press and industry professionals will also have the opportunity to mingle and pick up their credentials at Offshore’s very own filmmaker’s lounge, located at Sole East Resort, also in Montauk.

Festival anticipated events, opening night and awards ceremony, will be presented in partnership with Women Make Movies  with venues at  The Ranch,  Sole East and the  Montauk Beach House. Anticipated themes and topics during these events will include an NFT panel sponsored by Intu and FuturePass NFT, climate change and performance art. Plus, a live performance by Jufu , Wednesday night.

The festival’s impact will benefit charities and organizations, including Oceania, 1% For The Planet, the Montauk Playhouse, the Montauk Library and the Montauk Skatepark Coalition. The number one goal: Celebrating not only filmmakers reminding us of our inherent courage and perseverance through their characters, but also how much “we” as a community, together can transform for a better global community.

Offshore Art & Film strives to be recognized for its contribution to the community’s artistic, cultural and economic growth. A true example of this growth is the recently transformed Deep Hollow Ranch. This legendary dirt road will now lead you to an indoor – outdoor gallery experience, home to some of the most accomplished artists of our time. Paying true homage to past artists of the area, such as Andy Warhol and Peter Beard, Offshore is thrilled to announce that it will be having a private screening on the great lawn of The Ranch, Thursday July 14th, thanks to the gracious host and owner Max Levai.

Festival Lineup

July 13th – Surf & Skate Night – Opening night at the MONTAUK BEACH HOUSE Presented by Intu & Future Pass, featuring a local Bonac film, which documents East Hampton’s dynasty of lifeguards, WATERPROOF, directed by Ross Kauffman, with a cast panel and Q&A discussion to follow. (more films to be announced soon!)

NFT panel discussion pre-screening at MBH with NFT Panel from Intu & Future pass. Intu and Future pass will also be providing an NFT Raffle for one lucky winner – Live performance by Jufu, along with joining the NFT panel.

July 14th – Back at the Ranch – A private invitation to explore the sculptures of Frank Stella on the property of THE RANCH. Will include a live NFT launch with artist Sebastian Errazuriz followed by the film, THE ART OF MAKING IT, (2022 SXSW Audience award winner), directed by Kelcey Edwards, and Q&A with producer Debi Wisch. Private invitation only. Beer, wine and summer eats will be available for all invited guests.

July 15th – Afternoon Art Walk at SOLE EAST – Offshore will feature some of the East End’s finest, including local Montauk artist, Juliana Sheehan, with artwork on display and for sale, highlighting the true beauty of Long Island. At 5pm we will host an Artist Reception and discussion celebrating the craft, with light fare and drinks available for all.

At sundown, it will be time for a lot of laughs, as well as our own Summer Scares, a collection of films, which will include comedic shorts and high summer horrors. The screenings will follow a live panel discussion sponsored by Women Make Movies to begin at 7pm in the Backyard of SOLE EAST RESORT.

Don’t miss – Late night live artistic performance by Jo Jerusalem after hours, until 11pm.

July 16th – It’s Irish Night! at Sole East – featuring the main event, SUNBURN, which was shot in Montauk during the summer of 1998, directed by Nelson Hume, and which starred a young Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders, Inception), capturing the Irish J-1 culture of working, partying and living life during a crazy Montauk summer. SUNBURN will be preceded by short films, GHOST LIGHT and DOUBLE YELLOW, by directors, Aaron Monaghan & Ruairí Heading.

July 17th – Closing Brunch Party and Celebration – Awards to be presented for all winners of their filmmaker categories.
