Student Art Festival: Eco vs. Ego
At Guild Hall in East Hampton, you can check out the annual Student Art Festival, made up of 6 local artists working alongside student artists from over 14 schools. On view from January 20th to February 26th, the festival aims to explore the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature. In a multi and mixed media exhibition, students and teachers focused their energy on topics of need, shelter, food, water, infrastructure and growth, anthropomorphism and symbolism, and biophilia. This is a free exhibition to attend and open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 pm.
Halsey McKay Gallery: THE CAGE
On Saturday, February 17, Halsey McKay Gallery in East Hampton will hold its opening night of the exhibition “THE CAGE” by featured artist Patrick Brennan. Brennan is an Ithaca, New York-based mixed media painter. This will be Patrick Brennan’s 7th exhibition with Halsey McKay Gallery.
Southampton Arts Center: “Look at the Book”
The opening night reception for the “Look at the Book” multimedia exhibition will be on February 24th at the Southampton Arts Center. Thirty-two artists are included in the showing with pieces that touch on literacy, freedom of speech, and the way in which the role of books has changed over time. This exhibition will be on view until the beginning of May.
Art Studio Hamptons Gallery: A Moment In Time
Check out the exhibition, “A Moment In Time” on Main Street in Westhampton. The exhibition will be up until March 3rd and is featuring 20 artists. They held their opening night reception on January 15th.
The Church: Master Impressions; Artists and Printers on the South Fork
Only on view for one more month, The Church in Sag Harbor’s “Master Impressions” exhibition includes 20 different pieces from 1965 to 2010 by South Fork, East End artists. The curation of pieces is meant to explore the way in which artists and printers have been influenced by the landscape of the South Fork as it relates to the techniques and mediums they’ve explored. Make sure to check the exhibition out before its closing night on February 25th.
Haurbich Art: Framed/Unframed
“Framed/Unframed” is a group exhibition including 6 artists: Adriana Barone, Anthony Allison, Denise Gale, John Haubrich, Christa Maiwald, and Mark Perry. It will be on view from January 28th to May 5th in Sag Harbor, but their opening night reception will be held on February 25th from 4 pm to 6 pm.
Kathryn Markel Fine Arts: The Leiber Garden of Friends Artists
Bridgehampton-based gallery Kathryn Markel Fine Arts is teaming up with The Leiber Collection to bring us a curated exhibition by Leiber Collection director, Ann Fristoe Stewart. Stewart worked alongside Judith and Gerson Leiber until both of their deaths in 2018. The opening night reception of the exhibition will be held on Saturday, February 3rd. The exhibition will be on view at the Kathryn Markel Fine Arts gallery in Bridgehampton until Sunday, February 25th.
