On Thursday, October 8th, actor Matthew McConaughey filmed scenes for his latest film, “Gold,” in Southampton Village. Based on true events, the film follows an unlikely duo as they embark on a trip to the Indonesian jungle in pursuit of gold.
For the scenes filmed in Southampton, “Gold” shot on Meadow Lane, including at the helipad. The actor wore a peach polo shirt, Ray Ban aviators and khaki pants while filming and is no longer in his “Magic Mike” form. McConaughey was barely recognizable, undergoing a dramatic transformation for the role of Kenny Wells that includes packing on a few pounds and a balding hairstyle.
Directed by Stephen Gaghan, “Gold” also stars Édgar Ramírez, Bryce Dallas Howard and Rachael Taylor.
