Rori Sassoon, relationship expert and author, hosted a Summer of Self-Love celebration at the East Hampton boutique in support of her new book, The Art of the Date on Friday. During the evening, Sassoon shared her best relationship advice, tips on how to navigate Manhattan’s complex dating scene and signed copies for her fans. The evening was co-hosted by Fashion Stylist Gretta Monahan, who pulled her favorite summer date-night looks and offered fashion advice, and Founder of Naturally Serious Skincare, Rochelle Jacobs, who shared beauty secrets. Guests also sipped Minuty Rosé and enjoyed light bites while shopping WGACA’s curated selection of luxury vintage goods from brands like Gucci, Dior, and Chanel. Attendees included Russell Simmons and daughter Aoki Lee Simmons, singer/songwriter Sophie Beem, among others.

Saks Fifth Avenue and social networking community Bumble BFF, the friendship-finding platform within the Bumble app, hosted “Saks by the Sea, a Saks and Bumble BFF Bee-Treat” at Hero Beach Club in Montauk from Friday through Sunday. Guests, which included Flaviana Matata, Dani Evans, Janet Montgomery, Lauren Taylor, Ashley Avignone, Charlotte Bickley, Tanya Taylor, Indira and Bria Scott, Zach Weiss, Danielle and Gabby Prescod, Tucker Bellingrath, Sarah Bray, Jari Jones, Corey Kempster, and Mandy Ansari, took part in surf lessons, a happiness workout led by Happy Not Perfect founder Poppy Jamie, a starlit clambake and bonfire hosted by Bumble’s Heads of Creative Sara and Erin Foster, a yoga session with Yoga Vida founder Hilaria Baldwin, and a beach clean-up with the Surfrider Foundation. The fun culminated with a farm-to-table lunch with Black Iris founder Candice Miller and Saks Chief Merchant Tracy Margolies at Rosie’s Amagansett to celebrate Saks’ exclusive launch of the Black Iris Fall 2019 Collection.

The 5th Annual Johnny Mac Tennis Project (JMTP) Pro-Am in the Hamptons was held at Sportime Amagansett on Saturday. The benefit featured matches with JMTP’s John McEnroe and Patrick McEnroe, as well as Kim Clijsters, Mardy Fish, Mats Wilander, Guillermo “Willy” Cañas and Emilio Sánchez.

“It was such a gorgeous day to be out on the courts with so many legends of the game, our generous JMTP supporters who have made tennis a part of their own lives and, of course, our JMTP kids showing off their skills at Sportime Amagansett—followed by an incredible evening, with Alan Cumming keeping the energy up in the DJ booth,” said tennis icon John McEnroe, “This was our 5th Annual Pro-Am, and we’re thrilled to be expanding the work of our nonprofit—introducing tennis to more young people who wouldn’t otherwise have access to the game and to high-level training and competitive play. We’re looking to help kids grow as individuals, as well as to create the next generation of American tennis champions right here in my hometown of NYC. As always this event is a great way to kick off US Open week.”

Following the Pro-Am, an After Party, hosted at a private residence, featured music selections by renowned actor and celebrity DJ Alan Cumming.

“I’m thrilled to be joining John McEnroe and JMTP in the effort to make tennis more accessible, inclusive and affordable for young New Yorkers,” noted Cumming. “Tennis, like any major sport, is larger than just a game—which is something I was pleased to have the chance to explore playing the role of designer Ted Tinling in Battle of the Sexes. Sports and sports figures have a responsibility to confront social inequality, and it’s great that JMTP is doing that.”

Justin Tuck and Joy Corrigan were among attendees at Prostate Cancer Foundation’s Gala in the Hamptons at Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill. The Saturday evening event included dining, dancing, cocktails, and a special musical performance by multi-award-winning artist Bryan Adams.

On Saturday, former Vice President Joe Biden held a Hamptons fundraiser at the Water Mill home of artist Bonnie Lautenberg. The evening brought out nearly 250 supporters, including Governor Jon Corzine, Ambassador Donald Blinken, and his wife Vera, former Congressman Steve Israel, Tony Blinken, who was the Deputy National Security Advisor under President Barack Obama, Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman, and two candidates running for Congress, Perry Gershon and Jackie Gordon. After the fundraiser, the presidential candidate made an appearance at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons’ Blue Dream Gala.

The Rüfüs Du Sol set, presented by PAX, on Saturday at The Surf Lodge brought out models Isabell Giardini, Ambra Gutierrez & Precious Lee, artist Biet Simkin and Santana Iglesias. The Montauk hotspot hosted a dinner with Shallou & ABC Cocina on Sunday with attendees like Australian model Nicole Trunfio, Harvey Newton-Hayden & Jenne Lombardo, author Athena Calderone and more.

On Sunday, opening day of the Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton attracted Billy Joel and Michael Bloomberg, both of whom were supporting their daughters who competed, Donna Karan, and many more. Adrienne Sternlicht kicked off the 44th iteration by taking the top spot in the $30,000 Land Rover Jumper Challenge presented by Jaguar.

Mumford & Sons headlined an exceptional invitation-only Sunday concert for SiriusXM subscribers and Pandora listeners at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, which brought out Sir Paul McCartney, John McEnroe and Dianna Agron, who is married to Winston Marshall, Mumford & Sons’ banjoist and lead guitarist.

On Monday, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton enjoyed a quiet night out at The Springs Tavern in Springs. The casually dressed duo dined on shishito peppers to start, while Bill noshed on a lobster roll as his main, and Hillary enjoyed a salad. To finish the meal, the couple split a slice of key lime pie for dessert. The following day, the Clintons, along with a group of eleven, stopped by Bostwick’s Chowder House in East Hampton. The large party dined outside, where Hillary had a Montauk Brewing Company Wave Chaser IPA on draft and stuffed flounder. Bill went with a skinny spicy margarita, blackened fish tacos and they shared a lump crab cocktail.

Life@Nite: Hamptons Labor Day Weekend Edition

  • The place is the old Astro’s, and it looks pretty much the same except all the seating is now by the windows, and there are no tables. You can go in for slices, and overall, it’s a pretty typical pizza joint with a more retro vibe. But what’s great about this pizza is that it is thin and has a crispness to it that you don’t get anywhere else in the Hamptons. This means that even if you devour half a pie, you don’t walk away feeling bloated and like death is imminent, but you just feel really full from good pizza.

Everything is fresh, and the overall vibe is trendy. You have to go. I gave it an 8.4. #pizza #pizzatime #pizzalover #hamptons #finipizza
  • Special Screening of Love…Reconsidered, A Hamptons-Based Romantic Comedy

The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center will be hosting a premiere of the film Love…Reconsidered on Saturday, September 30th at 7:00 p.m. in the Mollie Parnis Auditorium. This is the charming romantic comedy starring Sophie von Haselberg, Judy Gold, Marisa Ryan, Elaine Bromka, Luke Gulbranson, and Colton Haynes, set between New York City and Southampton.

Love…Reconsidered is based on Arielle Haller-Silverstone’s true love/life story, and she wrote the screenplay after losing her job during the pandemic where she then moved to the Hamptons. Haller-Silverstone is the co-owner of Le Closet, a curated consignment store, with locations in Southampton and New York City, and she can’t wait to premiere this film at WHBPAC and connect with viewers.

The screening will also include a panel discussion with the filmmakers moderated by Kate Schumacher and Carinn Jade of the well-known podcast Pop Fiction Women. They will dive into the film’s characters and the complicated lives they lead, along with the filmmaking process that brought this movie to life on the screen. Arielle Haller-Silverstone spoke more about her inspiration for the screenplay, her background, and what she is most looking forward to for the screening.

Congratulations on your film Love…Reconsidered. Can you talk about the story behind this film and where your inspiration came from to write the screenplay?

Arielle Haller-Silverstone: I lost my job during COVID and started Le Closet from my studio apartment in Hell’s Kitchen. On a total whim, my dad knew a broker that knew a broker in Southampton, and I decided to give it a shot. I schlepped all of the clothes from NYC and opened on Windmill Lane (where the store still is today!). I knew there was a script within this story and had to make a movie. @whbpac

  • Sara Hartman Talks Musical Beginnings, Berlin, and New Album ‘Start Somewhere Dark’

With the excitement surrounding the return of the Sag Harbor Music Festival this year, one artist stood out in the lineup: Sara Hartman. She’s not your typical local artist. She is a SHMF veteran, performing at the very first one when she was just 15 years old. She grew up in Sag Harbor and attended Pierson High School. She took lessons at the famous Harbor Music Studio in Sag Harbor, and in 2015, she signed a record deal with a major label, moved to Germany, and toured the world opening for acts like Ellie Goulding, Clueso, Kelvin Jones, and many more. Her song “Monster Lead Me Home” off her Satellite EP has over 34 million Spotify streams. The US premiere of her new album “Start Somewhere Dark” will take place at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor on Saturday, September 30th. It seems things are coming full circle for Sara.

She spoke to Hamptons.com about her musical beginnings, Berlin, and new album ‘Start Somewhere Dark.’

Take us back to the beginning of your musical journey. How did it all start?

I grew up in Sag Harbor and took lessons with Paul Chapin at Harbor Music. It was a little lesson space near Sag Town Coffee way back in the day. I got a drum set for Christmas and really fell in love with it. I’m sure my neighbors were not as in love with the instrument as I was haha. I was really grateful to be working with Chapin as a teacher. He taught me a bit of piano, bass, guitar, and ukelele as well. That led to me writing songs in my bedroom as a way of dealing with a bit of a chaotic home life. It was therapy for me to be able to express myself through songs. I was adopted by the East End music scene after playing a show at Crossroads Music in Amagansett and soaked up all that I could learn. I was really supported by my family and my teachers at Pierson. Without all this, I wouldn’t be where I am today. @sarahartmanmusic

  • Behind the Bar: Dopo Argento in Southampton

Okay, let’s set the scene: we’re walking down Main Street, Southampton, black mini shoulder bags hanging between us. We’ve just finished dinner a few doors down, arms linked and chatting about that mini Dachshund we saw enjoying an evening stroll with its owner. What’s the next stop? You ask. A little night cap? I suggest. Could it be a warm July night, a moody October weekend– doesn’t matter because you know this bar is just as delicious in the summer months as it is on a biting winter night. @dopoargentosouthampton
