The 5th Annual Johnny Mac Tennis Project (JMTP) Pro-Am in the Hamptons was held at Sportime Amagansett on Saturday. The benefit featured matches with JMTP’s John McEnroe and Patrick McEnroe, as well as Kim Clijsters, Mardy Fish, Mats Wilander, Guillermo “Willy” Cañas and Emilio Sánchez.
“It was such a gorgeous day to be out on the courts with so many legends of the game, our generous JMTP supporters who have made tennis a part of their own lives and, of course, our JMTP kids showing off their skills at Sportime Amagansett—followed by an incredible evening, with Alan Cumming keeping the energy up in the DJ booth,” said tennis icon John McEnroe, “This was our 5th Annual Pro-Am, and we’re thrilled to be expanding the work of our nonprofit—introducing tennis to more young people who wouldn’t otherwise have access to the game and to high-level training and competitive play. We’re looking to help kids grow as individuals, as well as to create the next generation of American tennis champions right here in my hometown of NYC. As always this event is a great way to kick off US Open week.”

“I’m thrilled to be joining John McEnroe and JMTP in the effort to make tennis more accessible, inclusive and affordable for young New Yorkers,” noted Cumming. “Tennis, like any major sport, is larger than just a game—which is something I was pleased to have the chance to explore playing the role of designer Ted Tinling in Battle of the Sexes. Sports and sports figures have a responsibility to confront social inequality, and it’s great that JMTP is doing that.”

The casually dressed duo dined on shishito peppers to start, while Bill noshed on a lobster roll as his main, and Hillary enjoyed a salad. To finish the meal, the couple split a slice of key lime pie for dessert. The following day, the Clintons, along with a group of eleven, stopped by Bostwick’s Chowder House in East Hampton.
