First Presbyterian Church of Southampton and Core Dynamics Gym are asking cyclists to spin for a cause during the upcoming Cycle-A-Thon at the Water Mill gym. Proceeds will benefit Maureen’s Haven in Riverhead, which offers nightly food and shelter for the homeless from November through April.
During the winter months, the outreach program screens and transports homeless from the East End to one of eighteen host Houses of Worship, including the Southampton church. Guests are given hot meals and offered a variety of amenities depending on the location, which covers Greenport to East Hampton. Opportunities include the chance to consult with a medical professional or social worker, attend an AA Meeting, take a hot shower, receive warm clothes, attend an English (ESL) Class, and have a place rest.
The Cycle-A-Thon on Saturday, December 14, begins at 8 a.m. with dynamic 30 minute spin classes until 2 p.m. The suggested donation for a class is $20.
Core Dynamics Gym is located at 58 Deerfield Road in Water Mill. To reserve a bike call 631-726-6049 or [email protected] . For more information on Maureen’s Haven visit www.maureenshaven.org.
