This weekend, Katy’s Courage is asking East End residents to break out your skates for a fun afternoon at the Buckskill Winter Club in East Hampton. The Hamptons not-for-profit organization is hosting their third annual skate-a-thon and bake sale on Saturday, March 8 at 4:30 p.m.
After you’ve worked up an appetite skating around the rink, head to the bake sale for some delicious sweets. Pre-event registration is $20 per person and $35 the day of. The entry fee includes skate rentals and register is available online.
The charity was created to honor Katy Stewart, a courageous 12-year-old girl who passed away from hepatoblastoma, a rare form of pediatric liver cancer. The organization focuses on the fields of education, pediatric cancer research and counseling.
This fall, they will team up with The Children’s Museum of the East End for “Katy’s Kids @ CMEE.” The collaboration will provide support for children and families experiencing loss or heartbreak. It will give children the opportunity to convey their feelings through expressive therapeutic play, such as writing, art, music, dance, movement, drama, and poetry.
