The Humane Society of the United States’ Friends of Finn is holding a Hamptons fundraiser at Finale East on Saturday, August 2, 2014, to raise awareness for the mistreatment of dogs kept in puppy mills. Model Allie Rizzo is hosting the benefit, which aims to teach guests about the inhumane treatment of the puppies as well as how they can help stop it. Guests will enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres by Vegan Divas.
“People don’t realize that over 90 percent of pet store dogs come from puppy mills. I started Friends of Finn to bring awareness to the inhumane treatment that dogs endure in these illegal breeding facilities and to try and end the puppy mill industry,” said Amanda Hearst, Founder of Friends of Finn and co-chair of Friends of Finn by the Shore Hamptons event. “Puppy mills are illegal breeding facilities where sometimes hundreds of dogs and cats are kept in cages, rarely if ever let outside, bred to death and suffer in countless other ways. My pup Finn was from a puppy mill and so I started FOF to raise money and awareness to end this billion dollar industry.”
Amanda Hearst along with Timo Weiland, Arden Wohl, Hassan Pierre and Emily Jerome are co-chairing the benefit. The event committee includes Ashley Stark Kenner, Austin Stark, Laura de Gunzburg, Elettra Wiedemann, Angela Simmons, Luigi Tadini, Louise Tabbiner, Emilie Ghilaga, John Glass, Warren Cathcart, Gabriella Campagna, Giovanna Campagna and Andy Frankenberger.
Friends of Finn Hamptons fundraiser will take place on Saturday, August 2, from 8 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $125.
