East End Organization Hosting Benefit Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

Back in the day, we all had that relative that just oozed holiday spirit, and proudly showed it by donning an interesting, extraordinarily festooned sweater. Now those over adorned sweaters are all the rage, in an ironic way, obviously. Sam Smith, Niall Horan, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Matt Damon, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Jewel, Harry Styles, Katy Perry, Kayne West, Ed Sheeran, Joe Jonas, Kelly Ripa, Taylor Swift, and Michael Strahan have all been spotted in one. We’re talking about ugly Christmas sweaters, of course.

On Sunday, December 13th, you can break out your tackiest Yuletide sweater (extra points if it lights up), and proudly wear it during a benefit Ugly Sweater Christmas Party at Greenport Harbor Brewery in Peconic. From 5 to 9 p.m., support Maureen’s Haven Homeless Outreach during the holiday season fundraiser that will include a 4 beer tasting flight, food, music from DJ Michael of East End Entertainment, a 50/50 raffle and raffle baskets.

So, whether you want to join the craze buy purchasing one (head to the nearest Salvation Army ASAP for an inexpensive find) or get crafty by making your own (think glitter, giant pompoms and colored duck tape), make sure you come dressed a gem, because Maureen’s Haven will award prizes for the best ugly sweater.

Proceeds from the evening will support Maureen’s Haven Homeless Outreach, who provides shelter, support and compassionate services to homeless adults on the East End of Long Island.

Admission is $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
