On Saturday, January 30th, grab a group of family or friends and get ready to brush up on your trivial knowledge at the American Legion Hall in Hampton Bays during a Family Trivia benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“The trivia for St. Jude’s event was started by two sisters [Caelinn and Saorla] who wanted to make a difference,” explained Liz Scully, the girls’ mother. “The event is like a live game show for families and friends to come together, have a great time and raise some money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.”
The benefit will feature eight rounds of questions that will cover everything from sports to geography to food and even include a photo round, where attendees will have to identify actors and cartoon characters, and music fans are in luck because in another round you’ll listen to a song and then have to identify either the title or singer.
The young philanthropists were inspired by their father to create the fundraiser. “My husband, Fergus, has been running Trivia Night at Buckley’s once a month for years,” said Scully. “The girls got the idea from that and turned it into something for kids.” The family friendly afternoon will have fun tests for everyone. “The game is designed to entertain kids of all different ages,” she noted. “The cool part is that the majority of the fundraiser is organized by my kids – ages 15 and 12.”
After each round is finished, attendees can support St. Jude’s by taking a chance on the door prize raffles. “Local businesses always support the effort by donating great prizes and snacks,” added Scully. “$10 covers your entry to the game, snacks and your raffle tickets!” And of course the evening will feature a little friendly competition between teams, with the top three teams taking home a prize.
Family Trivia will take place on Saturday, January 30th from 3 to 5 p.m. Admission is $10.
