The Southampton Historical Museum will celebrate the Summer of Love at its annual Halsey House Gala on Saturday, July 7, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
“I am so excited about this year’s theme Summer of Love,” Executive Director Tom Edmonds relayed. “Many people, like me, either experienced the late 1960s or wished they could have. I can’t wait to enjoy the music of the Beach Boys, Judy Collins and Diana Ross at this festive outdoor cocktail party on the lawn of Halsey House.”
The lawn party “Be-In” will be held at The Thomas Halsey Homestead, Southampton’s oldest home, established in 1648.
The event features sunset cocktails in a colonial landscape and a newly restored herb garden. Guests can enjoy the nostalgic late 1960’s Hamptons chic atmosphere and enjoy hors d’oeuvres that are locally-sourced. Music be provided by DJ Twilo who will highlight hits from Joni Mitchell, the Beach Boys, the Beatles and Jefferson Airplane, other 60s and 70s favorites.
A silent auction will offer prizes such as a cocktail cruise on wooden sailboat, antique treasures, baskets of organic produce and other Hamptons restaurants’ offerings.
“Having cocktails, eating delicious foods and watching the sunset – while listening to the great music of that era – will put everyone in a state of joy,” Edmonds added.
Tickets are $150 for adults in advance and $200 at the door. Admission for those ages 16 to 30-years-old is $50 and admission for children 15 and under is $20.
