Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons’ (ARF) biggest fundraising event of the year, the Bow Wow Meow Ball, will be held on Saturday, August 18, at the ARF Adoption Center in East Hampton.
The event will honor event designer David Monn with the Champion of Animals Award, recognizing his dedication and service to the animal welfare. Past honorees Katharina Otto-Bernstein and Peter Marino will present Monn with the honor.
In addition to being honored, Monn will also team up with celebrated decorator and ARF Board member Alex Papachristidis to dazzle guests with transformative decor at the Adoption Center.
“This is an extremely important fundraiser for the organization and we can’t wait to see what magic David Monn creates this year – it really is the party not to be missed!” Jamie Berger, Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. Director of Marketing & Communications.
Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a sit down dinner catered by Oliver Cheng and a night of dancing with music by the Peter Duchin Orchestra.
As per usual, special guests will include the adoptable ARFan dogs and cats.
“Plus new to the event this year is ‘arfITECTURE,’ guests will have a chance to bid on one-of-a-kind cat and dog house creations by the top names in architecture and building spearheaded by 14-year-old Pierson student Luke Louchheim,” Berger added. “Bidding is open to all and will also be online.”
To create the one-of-a-kind nine doghouses and one cat condo, Louchheim personally met with nine architects and builders to bring his ideas to fruition.
ARF’s animals come from animal control centers, puppy mill rescue efforts, and people who can no longer care for their pets. In 2018, it is predicted ARF will take in over 1,600 dogs and cats and provide them full medical care including spaying and neutering, as well as basic care needs.
All animals, once cleared for adoption await their forever homes at the Adoption Center and through its mobile adoption van that travels throughout the greater New York area.
Since its beginning, ARF has rescued over 27,000 cats and dogs.
The event will also feature a live auction with Benjamin Doller, Vice Chairman at Sotheby’s, as well as an online auction by charitybuzz.com.
Tickets begin at $750. All proceeds benefit ARF, the regional leader in New York for the rescue and adoption of cats and dogs.
The ARF Adoption Center is located at 124 Daniels Hole Road in East Hampton. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit, www.arfhamptons.org.
