Virtual Girls Night In Benefit To Support Lucia’s Angels And Coalition For Women’s Cancers at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital

The annual Gurney’s Montauk Girls Night Out party is virtual this year. Aptly renamed Girls Night In, the beloved Lucia’s Angels and the Coalition for Women’s Cancers at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital (CWC) benefit will be held via Zoom on Saturday, November 14.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 has required the local breast cancer organizations to cancel most of their fundraising events, including the popular Bra Auction and Fashion Show.

“We kept pushing back the date, hoping COVID would disappear soon,” Stacy Quarty, President of Lucia’s Angels noted. “Unfortunately, breast cancer is not disappearing,” Susie Roden, President of the CWC, added. “Women are still being diagnosed and need our help. Many held off getting mammograms because of COVID and now we’re seeing an uptick of later stage cancers.”

Quarty and Roden said they did not want to cancel their biggest fundraiser of the year — Gurney’s Montauk Girls Night Out — because they were determined to continue raising money for breast cancer research and treatment.

“We want it to be as fun and interactive as possible,” Quarry said. “Not just a stagnant video presentation.”

The Girls Night In will include pink cocktail demonstrations, a live 50/50 raffle drawing, a dance demonstration, several live prize giveaways – including a 2-night stay and dinner at Gurney’s Montauk, Newport and Star Island; gift baskets with makeup, wine, wellness products, designer bags and more, all valued between $200 and $750; gift certificates for psychic readings and a contest for “Wildest Pink Pajamas.” Jason Galka will host the soiree, while DJ Rah-G-Raj will stream dance music.

The Coalition for Women’s Cancers at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is dedicated to “early detection and empowerment to bring about better health care and an improved quality of life.” The local, volunteer-driven group offers support and assistance to women and their families that have been impacted by breast and gynecological cancers. Lucia’s Angels is “committed to helping women and families on Eastern Long Island with late-stage women’s cancers including breast cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer and uterine cancer.”
