Father’s Day on Further Lane weekend is at hand. Now there is the story of how Jerry Seinfeld ended his all consuming TV show, “SEINFELD,” so that he could, as he reportedly told Larry David, “get a life!” Now with a daughter in her early teens and two sons in single digits, Jerry gets to walk them to his Amagansett ocean beach from his Further Lane mansion. He bought the place from Billy Joel for $32M after Jerry married Jessica Sklar on Christmas Day 1999. I am guessing the place is worth over $100M fifteen years later. No doubt there will be grilling the around the pool, then maybe tossing of a ball around the full size baseball diamond on the enormous grounds right on the Atlantic Ocean.
One has to wonder how morning TV “Diva” Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos will spend Fathers Day with their two sons and daughter. Guessing they won’t be grilling on the grounds of their $15M Southampton cottage. I am guessing it will be sushi at Zen in Sag Harbor.
Independent movie producer, actor, and Montauk-loving Ed Burns most likely will be out on “THE END,” at his place for Father’s Day with his wife, the lovely beautiful Christy Turlington along with their pre-teen daughter and son. The locals in Montauk love Ed because he has such a true Long Island soul. I was once in Liar’s Saloon and had to look up when I heard that distinctive Ed Burns voice ordering a beer.
OK, I had to walk down the alley on Jobs Lane in Southampton where I use to deliver a weekly paper, to check out “Dash,” and watch numerous “selfies” being taken in front of the Kardashian shop. This week’s Kardashian hype centered around “comp” meals at the Driver’s Seat and the help being stiffed on tips. (Very uncool!) Years back Billy Joel was famous for not leaving tips, but back then he was broke. So the question is what song daughter Alexa Ray Joel will sing her daddy this Father’s Day? Alexa is a true daughter of the Hamptons. She graduated from the prestigious Ross School in East Hampton. Alexa’s career is in a pleasant upswing and everyone loves her sultry version of “Just the Way You Are!”
Lastly, I wish a huge get well and Happy Father’s Day to Paul McCartney, who is recovering from a virus that cut short his world tour somewhere in Japan. Maybe some Amagansett Ocean air and a few “veggie pizzas” from Astro’s Pizza will nurse him back to Beatle health.
