This holiday season, Dress for Success, an international not-for-profit organization, will receive a generous donation thanks to Melissa Pintauro, the driving force behind a local Dress for Success clothing drive.
On Friday, December 2nd, Pintauro held a reception at the Sag Harbor office to bring awareness to the clothing drive and the not-for-profit whose mission is to “empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.”
“I couldn’t be happier with the turnout from co-workers, community and friends,” Pintauro noted. “We have received over 130 donations so far and still counting.”
Diana Weir, the Commissioner of Housing and Women’s services for the Town of Brookhaven, was among attendees. She shared with guests some of the tremendously impressive opportunities that the global movement for change provides Nassau and Suffolk county residents. Locally, Dress for Success recently outfitted their 5000th client.
The not-for-profit, which was established in 1997, has helped over 925,000 women on their journey towards self-sufficiency. It has branches in nearly 145 cities in 21 countries. For Dress for Success, the assistance doesn’t end when they provide clients with professional attire to secure employment. Their support extends to equipping Dress with Successers with a lifelong confidence that leads to lasting success.
“Dress for Success is such a great and empowering cause, not just for women in the surrounding area, but around the world as well,” she said.
The local Dress for Success clothing drive at the Sag Harbor Douglas Elliman office will run through Friday, December 23rd. Acceptable donations include suits, dresses, pants, blouses, sweaters, jackets, shoes, pocketbooks costume jewelry, coats, boots, scarfs and gloves.
“Can’t wait for the next Clothing Drive!” added Pintauro.
