Sag Harbor Cinema will honor award-winning actress Naomi Watts with the first Voyager Award at their Annual Benefit on Saturday, August 17th at 6pm at the Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club. Ms. Watts starred in critically acclaimed films, such as David Lynch’s MULHOLLAND DRIVE and Alejandro González Iñárritu’s 21 GRAMS, as well as celebrated television programs – most recently her remarkable performance as Babe Paley in “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.“
“We are thrilled to honor Naomi Watts at this year’s Sag Harbor Cinema Annual Benefit. Naomi’s extraordinary talent, dedication to her craft, and contributions to the film industry embody the spirit of our mission to celebrate and preserve the artform,” said Genevieve Villaflor, Executive Director of Sag Harbor Cinema. “Her work continues to inspire audiences and filmmakers alike, and we are delighted to recognize her achievements with this well-deserved honor.”
Sag Harbor Cinema’s Voyager Award honors those whose work in film echoes the Sag Harbor Spirit. For decades Sag Harbor has been the haven for writers, actors, and artists to launch ideas and experiment their art.
“An actress of luminous depth and subtle nuances, Naomi Watts is always exciting to watch. Her choices reflect curiosity, a commitment to character and passion for film and its power, as well as the desire to engage with some of the best directors working today – from Lynch to Iñárittu, Haneke, Eastwood, Bayona, Cronenberg, and Peter Jackson – but also with younger, less proven filmmakers. That openness keeps her work lively and fresh,” says Sag Harbor Cinema’s Founding Artistic Director Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan.
