LongHouse Reserve (LHR), the spacious 16 acre East Hampton reserve and sculpture garden that has showcased works from William De Kooning, Yoko Ono, Buckminster Fuller, Kiki Smith, Alice Aycock, and many more, is commemorating its quarter-century anniversary in 2016.

“This 25th year at LongHouse is such a joyous occasion,” shared Jack Lenor Larsen, Founder of LongHouse Reserve. “It’s been a fantastic journey in the creation, exploration and celebration of beauty in all facets of everyday life.” Lenor Larsen, an internationally known textile designer, author, and collector, built LongHouse, his home, as a case study to demonstrate an inspired approach to contemporary life. He wanted to provide a place where guests could gain exposure to art in living spaces during an atypical learning experience.
Before it officially opens for the year, LHR is presenting A sneak peak of LongHouse at 25: A Spring Walk at LongHouse Reserve on Saturday, April 16th from 1 to 2:30 p.m. LHR Horticulturist Alex Feleppa will lead the springtime stroll that will take attendees through thousands of beautiful flowering bulbs. Guests will also be privy to a look back at the decades of designing, selecting and planting done by Jack Lenor Larsen and be among the first to admire LongHouse’s new art installations. Admission is free for members and $10 for non-members. Also prior to the season opener, LongHouse will hold an Arbor Day gathering on Friday, April 22nd from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
On Saturday, April 30th, LongHouse Reserve will celebrate its 2016 debut during its Rites of Spring season opening from 2 to 5 p.m. Admission is $10.
“I’m proud to have been able to offer this unique learning experience to thousands of guests over the past 25 years and excited to share what the future will bring with as many more,” added Lenor Larsen.
LongHouse is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 2 to 5 p.m., starting Saturday, April 30th through Saturday, October 8th. In July and August, LongHouse will also be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and free for high school and college students, with ID, and children under 12-years-old.
