The prestigious Hamptons art and design fair, Market Art + Design, is back for its 10th year and will be held entirely online for the first time ever. The event, taking place Sunday, August 2, 2020 through Monday, September 7, is an exclusive ecommerce partnership with 1stdibs, the world’s leading marketplace for extraordinary design, bringing worldwide access to top dealers offering modern and contemporary pieces via virtual storefront.

“Market Art + Design has long been known as an important cultural moment for the Hamptons summer season,” explained Kelly Freeman, Director of Business Development, Art Market Productions. “This year’s fair will see the continuation of this celebration with a much wider reach, thanks to 1stdibs — with all 300+ pieces available to view and purchase online, we’re excited to see what’s possible without the logistical limitations of a physical fair.”

The fair opened with a private preview for press and 1stdibs’ top clients on Thursday, July 30 and officially launched on Sunday, August 2. It will run through Labor Day with exciting programming taking place throughout. The fair will feature top art and objects from more than 50 galleries around the world, including Absolut Art, ACA Galleries, Art Unified, Axiom, Bronner Gallery, Contempop, Contessa Gallery, Daphne Alazraki Fine Art, David Benrimon Fine Art, David Lusk Gallery, Duane Reed Gallery, Eckert Fine Art, Ellen Miller Gallery, Emmanuel G. Contemporary Art, F.L. Originally founded to capture the magic of the Paris Flea Market online, 1stdibs has deep roots in recreating the traditional fair experience virtually. Art has greatly shifted toward online marketplaces, with 1stdibs adding 113 new art dealers within the last year alone. Dealers on the site can be found across five continents, with a concentration in major cities like London, Paris, New York and Los Angeles.

“The Market Art + Design is a beautiful celebration of renowned dealers and spectacular works, and we’re proud to partner with the fair to share this experience with the 1stdibs audience,” noted Cristina Miller, Chief Commercial Officer, 1stdibs. “As our marketplace has grown, providing a far-reaching platform for dealers in the art space has become a special focus for us, and we are thrilled to be the exclusive e-commerce partner for Market Art + Design 2020.”

In the last six months, 1stdibs customers have purchased high-value works such as Norman Rockwell’s Pregnant Woman Drinking Tea, Andy Warhol’s Apple from Ads F&S II.359 and an untitled oil painting by Willem de Kooning. From paintings and photography to drawings and sculptures, the prices can go up to $32 million, with 1stdibs offering a private listing functionality which sellers and buyers can use for certain works.

Bay Street Theater’s powerful production of the musical “Ragtime” mesmerized the audience and at the end had them on their feet applauding wildly. “Ragtime” is a must see.
