“I love The Surf Lodge and everybody else out there,” said Donavon Frankenreiter who has a few East End performances lined up. The Hawaii-based singer, who counts folk rock singer Jack Johnson as a close friend, is bringing his laid-back surfer cool vibe to the Hamptons.
His latest album Start Livin’, was recorded in only seven days with his longtime bassist Matt Grundy. “It was the first time it ever went down like that. We went into the studio and didn’t know what to expect,” Frankenreiter told Hamptons.com.
Most of the songs from the album were inspired by his wife and two sons who have been touring with him for what seems like forever. “They love it. I love it and it’s a lot harder when they are away.”
Frankenreiter who is performing at The Surf Lodge and the Stephen Talkhouse is excited to come back to the East End. While in the Hamptons his schedule when not performing sounds pretty laid back. “We’ll surf, there are tons of great waves, hangout at the beach, people take us out fishing, it’ll be great.”
