Update: Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Hamptons Music Festival has been postponed. Natalie Merchant will still perform at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, October 25th, but Duncan Sheik has been rescheduled to Friday, June 19, 2015.
Hit Hamptons musicians will take center stage during a special three day festival this fall. The first Hamptons Music Festival presented by F. David Mogull Productions will be held from Saturday, October 24th through Sunday, October 26th, at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center.
Kicking off the weekend is Grammy and Tony Award winning singer and songwriter Duncan Sheik, and his opening act Jeff LeBlanc, a local Long Island musician. Sheik is expected to bring his interesting style to the stage in songs like his popular 1996 track, “Barely Breathing,” which topped the charts for 55 consecutive weeks, and his more recent renditions like “Lay Down Your Weapons.” Along with his vibrant vocals, catchy tunes and orchestral strings, Sheik will also treat guests to songs from his Tony Award-winning musical, Spring Awakening.
Multi-platinum selling alt-pop singer Natalie Merchant is headlining the Saturday night concert. Performing her first entirely original collection of songs in 13 years, Merchant is expected to wow guests with her enthralling deep voice and her socially conscious songs. Once the lead singer of 10,000 Maniacs, Merchants has found even more success in her solo career and is known as a leader in female pop music in the early 1990s.
Wrapping up the weekend of music is a collaborative performance from singers and songwriters from all across the East End. In the show “East Meets West – The Best Music from Montauk to Patchogue,” guests will enjoy original music in both electric and acoustic settings. Cow Palace in Westhampton will be serving barbequed favorites, complete with specialty cocktails from both an indoor and outdoor bar, while performers including Dan Bailey, Hopefully Forgiven, Matty O’Brein Group, Julia Haltigan, Jack Licitra and Alfredo and Lilly Anne Merat steal the stage.
Ticket prices for each performance range from $39 to $150.
Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center is located at 76 Main Street in Westhampton Beach. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit hamptonsmusicfestival.com.
