Multi platinum winning recording artist Mary Black will come to Southampton on her international “The Last Call Tour,” which is stopping at the Basilica Parish of Sacred Heart of Jesus & Mary in Southampton on November 7 at 7 p.m. The performance is part of the church’s very popular “Music at the Basilica Series” launched two years ago by pastor Father Michael Vetrano.
A dominant presence in Irish music for the last quarter-century, singer Mary Black has earned international appeal through her exploration of work from new composers and commitment to fresh material. Her unique song interpretations and incredibly pure vocals have resulted in platinum album sales worldwide.
Mary has released 11 studio albums, all of which achieved platinum sales status and spawned countless hits. She has shared stages, TV shows, and recording studios with some of the most revered performers of her time. She has also played a front-line role in bringing Irish music, past and present, to an increasingly appreciative and ever-growing global audience. The UK magazine What Hi-Fi? considers Mary Black’s voice to be so pure that they have repeatedly used it for comparing the sound quality of different high fidelity systems. The Last Call Tour will bring to an end a music career that dates back to the 1970’s in Dublin.
Tickets for the concert are $32 for general seating; $40 for premium center aisle, and can be purchased online at www.shjmbasilica.org.
