“The 7th Annual Classical Concert will be a wonderful event featuring local musicians who knew Katy,” noted Jim Stewart. “The connections to Katy are many and provide us with many warm memories!”
On Sunday, March 22nd at 3 p.m., a group of classically trained student musicians are coming together to participate in a benefit concert for Katy’s Courage at Bay Street Theater. The afternoon will feature the works of various notable composers, performed by the talented young students who have participated in ensembles such as the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra.
“Kate took violin lessons with Mr. Fox and several of the students who will be performing! Katy studied music with Ellen Johansen, who will be one of the accompanists,” said Stewart. “She also enjoyed riding and caring for horses with several of the performers. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Bay Street Theater!”
Katy’s Courage is a not-for-profit organization founded in memory of Katy Stewart, who passed away from a rare pediatric cancer at 12-years-old. The Sag Harbor-based charity is dedicated to education, pediatric cancer research, and counseling.
