This winter, a group of East End artists kicked off the Second Annual “Songwriter’s Share” Concert Series, where proceeds from each show benefit the local charity of the musician’s choice. The concerts are hosted by and take place at the Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse. During the intimate performances, the songwriters showcase their talents and speak about their musical process and inspirations.
So far, the fundraisers have featured Inda Eaton (who played for Project MOST) and Caroline Doctorow (who played for The Bridgehampton Child Care Center). And Gene Casey, frontman of the Lone Sharks, is up next. He will play his acclaimed original music solo in support of Community Action of Southold Town (CAST) on Friday, April 1st.
“It is a great night – with the help of Channing Daughters we supply a complimentary wine and cheese reception and a chance to speak with our artists,” shared Nancy Remkus, who founded the series. “It has become a lovely community event; the room is intimate with very good acoustics.”
Following Casey’s performance, Remkus and Mariann Megna will share the stage on Friday, May 6th during a concert that will benefit Maureen’s Haven. The series will wrap up on Friday, June 3rd with Fred Raimonda, who will be playing for The Retreat.
Along with an evening of music from local legends, attendees will enjoy complimentary wine, a cheese reception and a meet and great with the artists.
Concerts begin at 8 p.m. and admission is $15.
Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse is located at 977 Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton. For more information, contact Nancy Remkus at 631-725-3938.
