On Saturday, July 2nd at 4 p.m., join the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Jazz for Young People on Tour for the program’s kick-off concert, taking place at the Southampton Arts Center (SAC). Jazz for Young People on Tour allows traveling professional jazz ensembles to let their talent be seen and heard in communities worldwide.
“We are thrilled to be working with Jazz at Lincoln Center once again this season, and look forward to welcoming another group of world-class musicians to the summer stage,” expressed Amy Kirwin, Director of Programs at SAC.
The performance will feature party jazz collective Thunderswamp, who will bring the heat, soul, and culture of New Orleans to the stage, in honor of the Crescent City.
Justin Poindexter, Assistant Director of Education for Jazz at Lincoln Center noted, “We have a terrific ensemble of musicians and this concert is going to have all the blues, swagger, and excitement that you can expect in a New Orleans celebration.” Guests will experience the belting of blues music from artists including Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet as they experience the liveliness and excitement of Jazz for Young People.
The Southampton Arts Center is dedicated to strengthening the importance of art and performance in the Town of Southampton.
