The Choral Society of the Hamptons will bring joy to the world – or at least the East End – when they present Music for the Festive Season – two holiday season performances led by the Choral Society’s music director, Mark Mangini – on Sunday, December 4th at the Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church in Bridgehampton.
“This year’s convergence of Chanukkah and Christmas has added an especially warm dimension to our annual holiday celebration,” said Danny McKeever, the Society’s President. “Some of our best choristers will be taking solo roles, in addition to our usual professional soloists, and under Mark Mangini’s vibrant direction, we’re looking forward to adding deep beauty and high spirits to the days ahead.”
Taking place at 3 p.m., and again at 5:30 p.m., the duo of shows will feature Mozart’s Missa Brevis in F, Bach’s Cantata No. 61, festive works by Purcell and Schütz, and since it’s the holidays, sentimental Christmas carols will also be showcased. Soloists Rada Hastings, soprano, Nils Neubert, tenor, and Jason Eck, bass-baritone, as well as the South Fork Chamber Ensemble will join the Choral Society of the Hamptons for the joyous affair.
Following the final performance of the day, concertgoers are invited to join the Society for a complimentary holiday reception at the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Parish Center (2350 Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton). The festive celebration will include delicious homemade food, wine from Channing Daughters Winery, a fun carol sing-along, and a silent auction.
Tickets to Music for the Festive Season are $30 per concert in advance and $35 at the door. Youth tickets are $10 per concert in advance and $15 at the door, and preferred-seating tickets are available for $75.
The Choral Society of the Hamptons was founded in 1946 by the late Charlotte Rogers Smith, a local choir director. The auditioned chorus collaborates with seasoned conductors, soloists, orchestra and accompanists to offer high-quality choral music to the East End of Long Island.
