Tony Award-winner Lemon Andersen will debut his new play, “ToasT,” in East Hampton during a one-night-only staged reading at Guild Hall on Thursday, August 14, 2014. In “ToasT,” Andersen presents a riveting show about men trying to be free in a system determined to keep them locked away.
The play is set in 1971 at New York State’s Attica Prison and follows prisoner Willie Green, a.k.a. Dolomite, who discovers he is being paroled after serving 27 years for murder. At a turning point in American history, Dolomite is forced to decide weather to stand with his cellmates in the infamous Attica uprising or to secure his own freedom.
The cast is lead by Emmy Award-winner Keith David and the ensemble includes Andre DeShields, Tony Plana, Hill Harper, Colman Domingo, Kevin Mambo, Armando Riesco and Peter McRobbie.
