While Meryl Streep, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, James Corden, Emily Blunt, and Johnny Depp are among the notable names currently starring in Disney’s “Into the Woods,” a different group of stars is bring the magical tale to life at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (WHBPAC).
WHBPAC’s Arts Education Program’s Teen Theatre Troupe is getting ready to take center stage during its second full-scale musical production. “We really wanted to give the kids something where they could really stretch their acting and singing skills simultaneously,” said Morgan Vaughan, “Into The Woods Junior” Musical Director. “Sondheim’s musicals are perfect for both – there’s a lot of authenticity in the lyrics, and a lot of musicianship required in the singing and performing.”
“Into The Woods Junior,” a teen interpretation of the Tony Award-winning classic by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, will showcase a talented selection of students ages 12 to 17. Join the cast as they journey into the woods and meet childhood favorites including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Jack.
Performances will take place on Friday, January 30th at 7 p.m. and Saturday, January 31st at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.
