Music For Montauk (M4M) will be returning this August for M4M’s third summer of world-class performances at beautiful outdoor Montauk venues. The concerts, many of which are complimentary, last just over an hour and will intrigue, captivate, and entertain the audience.
“The performances are timed to end just before sunset so the combination of location, light and music creates a complete experience,” explained Lilah Gosman, President of M4M.
M4M’s summer series kicks off on Sunday, August 20 at 5 p.m. at Fort Pond House with The Opening of the Wells. Raquel González, a soprano from the Washington National Opera, will be performing Rusalka’s Song to the Moon by Antonin Dvořá. González will be accompanied by Baritone Paul La Rosa. Admission to the opening night concert is free.
The next concert will be held on Tuesday, August 22 at 8 p.m. at Solé East. The Pedro Giraudo Tango Trio will be headlining this event with special guest vocalist Sofia Tosello. The Grammy Award winning bassist leads the ensemble with Rodolfo Zanetti on bandoneó and pianist Emilio Teubal. This event will feature cocktails and dancing. Tickets are $20.
This year, M4M is hoping to be bigger than ever with Mozart for Montauk! Taking place on Thursday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Third House, this event will include soloists and a full-scale symphony. Annaliesa Place will play the violin, while Amanda Lynn Bottoms serenades the crowd with Parto, ma tu ben mio and Benjamin Fingland plays the clarinet. M4M’s Chamber Orchestra will be accompanying the soloists before performing the main event, Mozart’s Symphony No. 25 in G minor! Admission is free and all are welcome.
“Mozart’s music is perfect for Third House – it’s exciting, beautiful, playful and dramatic all at once!” said Artistic Director, Miloš Repický.
Next up is Sunset Salon at the Art Barge on Friday, August 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. This event features music by J.S. Bach, Kurt Weill and Rebecca Clarke, as well as new works by M4M’s composer-performers Jessica Meyers and Diego Garcia. Mezzo-soprano Amanda Lynn Bottoms, violinists Joanna Maurer and Annaliesa Place and clarinetist Benjamin Fingland will also be featured at this event along with cocktails and light fare. Tickets are $150.
This year’s series will conclude on Saturday, August 26 at 6:30 p.m. with the Schumann Piano Quintet at Third House. Puccini’s Crisamtemi, for string quartet, will open the program and be followed by Artistic Directors Lilah Gosman and Miloš Repický, who will join M4M’s string quartet of Annaliesa Place, Joanna Maurer, Jessica Meyer and Diego Garcì for songs along with Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet in E flat Major. Admission to this concert is free and attendees are encouraged to bring food and picnic!
