If you can allow yourself to believe it, September in the Hamptons is without a doubt the best month to be here. The traffic has subsided, the parking restrictions have come to an end, and the weather is the kind of weather you wish summer was: not too hot, but definitely still hot enough to go to the beach and enjoy the sunshine, and a lot less humid. September in the Hamptons is simply awesome.
Here is a list of things to do in September in the Hamptons.
RESTAURANTS: First of all, you MUST reserve a table at that restaurant you wanted to visit all summer but couldn’t get a reservation because it was so busy. There are many restaurants in this category. Now is the perfect time to go! Some busy spots where you should be fine these days are Le Bilboquet, Gurney’s, Mavericks, The Crow’s Nest, Beacon, and Tutto. They will all have a table waiting for you!
BIKING: Did you know that you can rent a bike for $40 for basically the entire day in Sag Harbor at the Sag Harbor Bike Shop? I didn’t either until recently. This is a great activity and is a lot safer in September because there is less traffic to watch out for! www.sagharborcycle.com
GOLF: Think the golf courses are too busy? Think again! Poxabogue and Montauk Downs are wide open in September, and so is the Sag Harbor Golf Course. These are all excellent places and open to the public!
FITNESS CLASSES: This has been the summer of Pilates, but quite frankly, almost every popular workout class has been practically sold out everywhere. Not anymore. Check out Soulcycle, Barry’s Bootcamp, and Tracy Anderson for a fun and AVAILABLE workout class.
FISHING: September is a great month for fishing in the Hamptons, especially in Montauk, which is often referred to as the “Fishing Capital of the World.” A quick Google search will yield plenty of options, all of which will be much more available to take you out for a fun day of fishing.
PUMPKIN TOWN OPENS: Hank’s Pumpkintown is now officially open! It’s such a fun Fall activity to do with the kids.
WÖLFFER VINEYARDS: Nothing is more pleasurable than a wine tasting at Wölffer Vineyards, but in the Fall, you don’t have to deal with the crazy crowds or parking.
Don’t let the best month in the Hamptons slip through your fingers. Enjoy your September to the fullest.
