Wölffer Estate celebrated winemaker and partner Roman Roth’s 30th anniversary at the vineyard with an exclusive retrospective dinner on Saturday, February 18. The top 10 wines from his exceptional tenure were paired at the dinner with a five-course feast designed by Chef Christian Mir of The Stone Creek Inn.
“It was and still is all about making great wine!
This retrospective was to celebrate my 30-year tenure as Wölffer Estate Vineyard’s winemaker with the 10 best and most memorable wines made during these years. Each wine has a unique story that came to life again throughout the evening. Most importantly, the longevity of these wines really stood out! A 28-year-old Chardonnay, 28-year-old Pinot Noir, 25-year-old Sparkling wine, 21-year-old Merlot, 18-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon, and so on. They are still vibrant and delicious tasting with many more years of aging potential. It was a great testament for the passion and quality focus of Wölffer Estate, our unique terroir and the overall greatness of our Long Island Wine Region. We can compete with the best in the world!
Wine brings people together. Sharing these amazing wines and memories with delicious food, made an unforgettable night for all participants,” shared Roman Roth.
Drinks and live music were enjoyed in the tasting room followed by dinner in the barrel cellar. Tickets were available to purchase via Wölffer Estate’s website. Guests included members of the Wölffer Estate Wine Club and the public along with family and friends of the brand.
