The East Hampton Library’s Long Island Collection will present “The Revolution in the Hamptons,” a special pop-up exhibit on view from July 8 – July 11, 2026.
ABOUT THE EXHIBIT | This exhibit will focus on the events that happened in the Hamptons during the American Revolution and British occupation, along with the experiences of local residents during the war, including those who fled to Connecticut. The exhibit will feature letters and muster rolls, which provide names of those who served in the war, along with information about Meigs’ Raid on Sag Harbor. The wreck of the HMS Culloden, and information about the British Naval presence in local waters will also be included. Visitors can expect to see original documents and letters from the Long Island Collection’s holdings.
MORE INFO | The pop-up exhibit will be on display in The Long Island Collection at the East Hampton Library from 4 – 7 pm on Wednesday, July 8 and will be viewable through Saturday, July 11. The community is welcome to drop-in and interact with Long Island Collection staff, who will be on hand to share information and answer questions about the items on view. Free.
