Hamptons JazzFest presents the Tomas Majcherski Quartet at Hampton Library in Bridgehampton — a FREE community concert featuring a wide-ranging program of contemporary jazz, original compositions, and exploratory ensemble improvisation shaped by influences from New Orleans, New York, and beyond.
Tomas Majcherski is an East Hampton native and New York City-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and bandleader who plays saxophones, clarinets, and flute. He grew up on the East End of Long Island, the son of a painter and a classical pianist, and went on to study philosophy at Columbia University before completing a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies at the University of New Orleans.
In 2018 Majcherski was awarded the ASCAP Foundation Louis Armstrong Scholarship for his compositions. His work spans contemporary jazz, avant-garde theater, early jazz, and global music traditions — most recently with his Sonic Chambers Quartet, whose debut album on 577 Records was praised by Bandcamp Daily as ‘wonderful, wildly melodic and a rhythmic dynamo.’
This performance at Hampton Library is free and open to all — a homecoming of sorts for one of the East End’s most adventurous musical voices.
