Frosae, a sorbet company based in Each Patchogue, is screaming for a more adult-friendly wine-infused confection.
Their company specializes in sorbets infused with under 5% of alcohol. This summer Frosae completed negotiations to distribute at Citifield, Yankee Stadium and the U.S. Open. They have given out over 10,000 samples. They are also in the works to have markets in 44 countries and they only debuted 18 months ago.
“We’re a brand new company,” said Ben Amato, the president of Frosae. “We’ve only been in business for 18 months. This far in 18 months is totally unheard of.”
Aside from sporting events and international markets, Frosae will also be available for delivery.
Amato was once a journalism teacher and a contributor to Hamptons.com. After retiring, he got into web design. Soon his friend and future business partner, John Pastore, approached Amato out of boredom. Amato had just read the change to the New York State liquor license law. Vendors did not need a liquor license to sell alcohol-infused desserts. They trademarked and the rest was history.
This fall they are looking to release a hard apple cider Frosae. It will be purely white with alcohol and apple. It is currently being tested in labs. Otherwise, those seeking Frosae can go to Raphael Vineyards, where the Frosae is made from Raphael’s wine and Empire State Cellars at Tanger Outlets, where the Frosae is made with wine from Peconic Bay.
“It’s going to border on insane,” Amato joked. “I personally like insane.”
The Ice Cream Cottage, the Frosae outlet, is located at 1590 Montauk Highway. For more information, visit their website at www.frosae.com.
