Max Cure Foundation Is Roaring For A Cure In The Hamptons

The Max Cure Foundation (MCF) is ready “Roar” in the Hamptons with a family fun day which includes the Dunk Your Kicks 3 on 3 basketball tournament on Saturday, August 24, at the Ross School in East Hampton.

During Roar For a Cure children can stop by Camp Divalysscious to enjoy face painting, a candy bar, a tattoo artist and a red carpet for kids to strike a pose. The day will also feature a performance from And1 Live Streetball Tour; the next generation Harlem Globetrotters as well as an obstacle course, laser tag and inflatables.

Teams participating in the basketball tournament will divided into age brackets from 7 years and up with 3 to 4 players per team and check-in is at 9 a.m.

Former East Hampton High and Southampton basketball star, Amos Ryan is being honored this year. The New York City Police Officer will be presented the Roar Beyond Barriers Award. Ryan’s 13-year-old daughter, Manijeh, was diagnosed with brain cancer two years ago and is still battling the disease today.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a used pair of sneakers for the foundation’s Dunk Your Kicks program. For every pair donated, MCF will donate an average of $1 towards their Roar Beyond Barriers program which supports low-income and military families who have children battling cancer.

All proceeds will benefit The Max Cure Foundation whose mission is to advance cures for pediatric cancers, fund the development of less toxic treatments for children, including the funding of an immune cell therapy lab at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center dedicated to alternative treatments for children battling the disease.
