Donna Karan, Kelly Ripa and Gabby Karan de Felice hosted the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance’s (OCRFA) Super Saturday 19 in Water Mill on Saturday, July 30th. This guilt-free charity shopping event is complete with a one-of-a-kind designer garage sale, kids’ carnival and activities, a luxury raffle and gourmet treats.
Once dubbed “the Rolls Royce of garage sales,” the most anticipated element of Super Saturday is the fashion designer sale, featuring discounted merchandise from nearly 150 prominent participants including DKNY, Ralph Lauren, VINCE, Bonpoint, Henri Bendel, Milly, Shoshanna, Theory, Alice and Olivia, Brooks Brothers, Kiehl’s Since 1851, L’AGENCE, Calypso St. Barth and Soul Cycle.
The event is always well attended and this year brought out June Ambrose, Joy Behar, Kelly Bensimon, Lorraine Bracco, Jonathan Cheban, Mayor Rudolf & Judith Giuliani, Katherine Jenkins, Star Jones, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Rebecca Minkoff, Cathy Moriarty-Gentile, Elin Nordegren, Molly Sims, Jill Stuart, Kristen Taekman, Christy Turlington, Aida Turturro and Ingrid Vandebosch.
“I love it! It’s one of my favorite events to lend my name to because we do great things, we have a great time doing it, and we look great doing it because we get to shop,” Molly Sims told Hamptons.com. “It’s a really important event, I mean ovarian cancer is such a silent killer. The more we talk about it, the more money we can raise. And in 19 years we have done a lot and raised a lot of money, and I know we will continue to do so in the coming years.”
In addition to shopping luxury brands at deep discounts for a great cause, OCRFA Super Saturday NY attendees enjoyed psychic readings with Besty Wahmann (some guests waited nearly an hour to meet Wahmann), floral crown making with B Floral, and hair styling at Brancott Estate’s Flight Song wine bar and hair salon. Kids kept busy with arts and crafts and special performances at Camp Divalysscious and visit Space East for the hottest video games.
“I love Donna Karan and I think she has made Super Saturday one of the most fun and incredible fundraisers that I’ve ever been to,” explained actress Lorraine Bracco. “I’d like to one day be alive and breathing to see us eradicate cancer and that’s why I’m here.”
For the ninth consecutive year, the “Designers A to Zoe” booth curated by Rachel Zoe featured a compilation of pieces from her favorite luxury designers including Aurelie Bidermann, Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenberg, Erin Fetherston, Giambattista Valli, Jenni Kayne, Lanvin, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Pam & Gela, Rachel Zoe Collection, Roberto Cavalli, Sergio Rossi, Stella McCartney and Temperley London.
The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance is the largest global organization dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer research while supporting women and their families. All of the proceeds from sales of merchandise, tickets and tables go toward funding OCRFA’s programs including vital ovarian cancer research by the nation’s top scientists as they seek to end this terrible disease.
A live art experience was a new feature added this year. New York-based modern artist Jeremy Penn created four amazing art pieces on-site and sold them during an auction at the Dorian Grey Gallery in Water Mill, to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance.
And if the designer garage sale wasn’t enough shopping, there was also an on-site luxury raffle with prizes from designers including Charlotte Olympia, Manolo Blahnik, Lorraine Schwartz, Gucci, Coach, POLOGEORGIS Furs, Barneys New York and Seaman Scheps and experiences donated by RIPPED Fitness, F-factor, the New York Football Giants, 27 Hampton Salon, Fred Marcus Photography and Kidville, among others.
A Lifestyle Marketplace, curated by Donna Karan and Gabby Karan de Felice, was also a new addition. The booth consisted of unique finds in clothing, accessories and home goods.
“So I was designing my little restaurant Tutto (il Giorno) and I picked out different scarves and handmade bags from Bali, and Haiti and I got great designers that also donated clothing, like Jill Stewart and Cynthia Rowley, so it [the Lifestyle Marketplace] is really bringing it back to the first Super Saturday when Liz Tilberis held it in her backyard,” noted Gabby Karan de Felice.
Additionally, Suite 1521, an exclusive luxury fashion destination in Manhattan, made its Super Saturday debut offering ready-to-wear and accessories from beloved brands including ADEAM, Anya Hindmarch, Ashish, David Koma, Edie Parker, Giles, Giulietta, Markus Lupfer, Mary Kantrantzou, Olympia Le-Tan, Peter Pilotto, Preen, Rialto Jean Project and Rodarte.
As the clock struck 6 p.m., there were plenty of smiling faces departing Nova’s ARK Project, ready to pick up a fabulous goodie bag.
