Every year, people in the Hamptons look forward to the Southampton Fresh Air Home American Picnic on the Fourth of July. Due to Hurricane Arthur, the family event was postponed from the actual Fourth of July to Sunday, July 6, 2014. 2014’s event was the twenty-seventh since the event’s inception. The American Picnic includes some of the most incredible fireworks available, choreographed by Grucci. The show is the only one on the beach in the Hamptons.

Families dressed in classic American casual clothes munched on the delicious popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, and stopped by ice cream carts located on the ocean-front estate.
The 2014 American Picnic Honorary Chairmen were Pamela Rollins Camacho and Alex Camacho. Diana and Joe DiMenna, Lise and Michael Evans, Carola and Bobby Jain, Stephanie and Stephen Hessler, Christl and Kenneth Meszkat and Barbara L. Vogt Co-Chaired the benefit.
Prior to the fireworks show, the campers, for whom the event benefits, sung the National Anthem, and in keeping with tradition, Mayor Epley led the countdown to the show.
All of the event’s proceeds, which make up about 40 percent of the operating expenses, will benefit the Fresh Air Home.
