Sag Harbor Cinema and Hamptons Doc Fest are proud to present a special screening of Wim Wenders’ latest documentary, Anselm. The film serves as a portrait of artist Anselm Kiefer, as Wenders traces Kiefer’s life from his birthplace in Germany to his current home in France, and explores the artist’s process as it relates to the history of his country.
The screening will be in 3D, a first for Sag Harbor Cinema. Wim Wenders himself is no novice to the stereoscopic format, having used it in the feature Everything Will Be Fine (2015) and in the documentary Pina (2011).
“Like Pina Baush, Anselm Kiefer is an ideal subject matter for the medium of 3D because of the size, ambitions and complexity of his work. The film takes us inside the art and the artist’s thought process. After the success of Turn Every Page last year, I am thrilled about this new collaboration with Hamptons Doc,” says SHC’s Founding Artistic Director Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan.
An exclusive pre-recorded conversation with Wim Wenders, as well as a Q&A with painter Eric Fischl, moderated by Ms. D’Agnolo Vallan, will be part of the program.
Tickets for the December 3rd, 4pm screening are available on Hamptons Doc’s website, hamptonsdocfest.com/2023-films/anselm.
