You can witness an eclectic mix of roots, rock, blues, Americana, pop, and so much more during the Seventh Annual Sag Harbor American Music Festival (SHAMF) taking place from Thursday, September 21 through Sunday, September 24. The multi-day series will visit several locations around the town of Sag Harbor, including Bay Street Theatre and Old Whalers Church. SHAMF, a non-profit organization that is supported largely by local businesses, celebrates the unique community of Sag Harbor through a weekend of extraordinary live performances.
“We’ve got it all- from jazz to funk, Hip-Hop pop, Folk to rock, Americana, Blues and more, this is our best year yet! Get to Sag Harbor early and be ready to groove all weekend,” remarked Kelly Connaughton Dodds, President of SHAMF.
The weekend will kick off on Thursday, September 21 at 7 p.m. at the beloved Bay Street Theater (1 Bay Street) with Joe Lauro’s all new Legends of American Music. The evening will feature a concert film curated with rare footage of America’s music heritage: Billy Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Staple Singers, Mississippi John Hurt, Louis Armstrong, and many more. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Admission includes post film live music and mixing and mingling in the Lounge.
John Cleary will take the stage at Old Whalers Church (44 Union Street) for an entertaining evening with his band on Friday, September 22 at 8 p.m. Clearly won the 2016 Grammy for Best Regional Roots Album. He uses his pianistic brilliance as a foundation to create his own eclectic and very memorable style. Tickets are $30 for general admission.

It’s an all day affair on Saturday, September 23 when free live music can be found from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nearly 30 performers, many of which are local, will take the stage at various Sag Harbor Village locations.
The Festival will conclude on Sunday, September 24 with more free live music at 11 a.m. during the Family Fun Folk Fest headlined by Caroline Doctorow and the Steamrollers at The Sag Harbor Express Stage at Marine Park. Dan Bailey Tribe will close out proceedings with a workshop, community drum circle, and performance. There will also be face painting, food, music, and much more! It will be a great way to wrap up this fun long weekend with your family!
